Statue in Navuoo

This is a great statue of Joseph and Hyrum on their last ride from Nauvoo. Joseph Smith stopped and looked one last time on the temple that was being built and said, (roughly) "Nauvoo is the most peacefull place on earth. The Saints do not know the trials and tribulations that await them"

Cheryl gave a smaller casting of this to Paul... I love it

Dad

Nauvoo

We just got back from Nauvoo. Mom and I went there to see Dave and Ann Wirthlin who is president of the temple.

This is a picture of the temple with the water tower taken out.

We did some Wirthlin family names there

It was a great visit

Johnny Hickey, Eagle Scout

On Sunday night we travelled down to Mapelton to go to Johnny Hickey's Eagle Scout court of honor, this was the best Eagle court that I had ever seen. They are hard core in Mapelton. They brought in this 20 lg Golden Eagle, 25 years old, who has lived in captivity for the last 20 years. The gal from the Avary gave a great talk on Eagles and their wonderful attributes and each Eagle got a chance to hold it. So cool!!!

This is Johnny in his Scouting outfit looking cool. The Eagle Scout award is a really good one and we are proud of him.

Custom Buffalo Hide Boots

We visited Mark and Mary in January and went to the Dallas Safari club as well. We stopped in the Russell Moccasin booth and they measured my feet and hand created these boots for each foot (the left is permenately more swollen than the right). I mailed them 4 square feet of a Cape Buffalo hide that I had saved from an African Safari. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Maybe I'll get another pair of shoes made.
